On February 17, 2004, I was the second African American male stabbed that night in Lancaster. We were both stabbed by the same person almost within 2 hours of one another. Mr. Clark was attacked at The Britisher in Lancaster, and I was attacked at The Tipsy Bull. These two bars are directly across the street from one another. Mr. Clark required multiple surgeries to his neck and upper body. I received multiple stitches in the chest and head. Here is my suggestion: This was unarguably (notice I changed arguable to arguably) a hate crime since upon his arrest the attacker proudly admitted—boasted in fact—that he was going to kill some niggers and he almost did. He was successfully tried and convicted, and now he doesn't have to rent for about 25 years, but that is not what pissed Celeste Eckley off. At the time that Sean Delaney was stabbing Mr. Clark, he was having drinks with his father, Tom Delaney, who was running for mayor. At the press conference, Celeste was there with the officers, mayors, Western Regional Director Frank Berry, Bishop Hearns and a host of others. Needless to say, Tom Delaney withdrew from the race but not before taking 13.5% of the votes with him. Ironic isn't it? So what is my point? What I am trying to say? Thank God for Prisons!
